Issue:
When a host was put into maintenance mode for patching, HA was disabled. After coming out of maintenance mode, one of the hosts didn't have HA re-enabled.
On the host Summary tab, you can see:
vSphere HA State: N/A
or
vSphere HA Protection: Unprotected
In addition, the Summary tab shows the message:
Insufficient resources to satisfy HA failover level on cluster
Steps to Enable:
On the left, right-click the host, select "Reconfigure for vSphere HA". Wait for the task to complete at the bottom, confirm the task says "Completed".
Notes:
You can also move the host to another cluster and back to the original cluster.
If the Reconfigure for vSphere HA fails with an error "timed out", check and see if the server agent (process) is running.
1. Host --> Configuration (tab) --> System --> Security Profile --> Properties
2. Start the HA service (vSphere High Availability Agent) if stopped. You can try restarting it, if running and then do another Reconfigure command.
